Your task is to research a specific example of BUFFERING in living systems.
- All living systems have active, inorganic buffers, that allow homeostatic balance when pH interference is present. These are found all around living tissues, systems, cells, etc.
- Your task is to research a SPECIFIC buffering situation that exists in nature and record a summary of
1) What the actual buffer is (base, acid, strength, etc)
2) What is the buffer helping to neutralize? (What is an example of a common acid or base that this living system comes in contact with)
3) A quick description of how this maintains homeostasis in the living system, AND what happens if or when "buffering capacity" is reached. (You may have to do a quick search to understand buffering capacity).
- Record where you obtained this info (full URL please)
